Country vs Desh

Updated: Apr 7, 2018

It's late Sunday morning and every thing seems lazy around. Stepping down the bed with a lethargic body feels more like treading a hill-lock. Isn't it? Today we have all the rights to get rid of all the decencies and dress-up in a "desi"cult. I know it's "we", the "desi" people choice always. Our choices very well shifts from looser to "jhandu", from sir/mam to "abey", from stupid/fool to "fuddu", from risks/chances to "pange", I guess there are many which you can recollect as per your conveniences :). Now don't be shy, that's what makes us desi, isn't it?

Jokes apart, there are n number of ways of planning up your day and making it shine with the brilliance of your ideas. But I chose to chalk out the line of difference between Country and Desh. You must be wondering, silly she, now how can she differentiate between synonyms? Here I bring out some remarkable and engaging variance between the way we perceive both the independent terms.

We live in India or Bharat, is a million dollar question or a million rupee question, we are to decide that. Most of us are today are proud to be a progeny of "Make in India", "Digital India", and how can we miss out the most popular one as "Incredible India"? However, few lakhs of us are also proud to be the incessant part of "Swacch Bharat", "Sakshar Bharat" and if some of us can remember "Atulya Bharat" as well. When we talk about Digital India, the forefront gray-matter strikes are our Mobile phones, Laptops, watches, gadgets and the contemporary foresight is Artificial Intelligence/Data Sciences. So, people living in India are most of the time worried about their call-drops, Weak networks, sulking on poor internet speeds, online business ups and downs, and you can always guess for more. The trajectory has taken toll on privacy breach, the most recent exemplar, "Mark Zuckerberg". Ssshhhh! you know it all, so let's not deviate from our topic.

Flipping the other side of the coin, let's put on our Red glasses and have a look over Bharat. Besides some fine tuning on listening part also needs to be done since the sights are outrageous. Plethora of voices like, "WE SHALL COMMIT MASS SUICIDE, IF WATER DOESN'T REACH US IN NEXT 24 HOURS",

"HOW DO I EDUCATE MY CHILDREN, THE TEACHERS THEMSELVES NEED TO WORK ON THEIR TEACHING SKILLS",

"WE HAVE NO SHELTERS TO LIVE",

"WE ARE HIT BY DISEASES OFTEN DUE TO LACK OF MEDICAL CARE AND ATTENTION".

So, the plans and manifestos like "Swacch Bharat" incorporates only those brooming the roads and vicinities, actually residents of Bharat. "Sakshar Bharat" is only for the residents of Bharat and not India, mind you. Because Sakshar Bharat can only spare some 5% reservations in big-budget and exorbitant schools for the Bhartians. It's a matter of huge shame that Indians cannot share their quality of education with Bhartians, and then we talk about sharing our resources with other countries. I wonder at times, Are Indians really sure of sharing their resources overseas? Because if at overseas also, man delineates between "Country" and "Goujia (Chinese word for country)", "Country" and "pays (French word for country)", "Country" and "Nazion (Italian word for Country)", "Country" and "Land (German word for country)", then Indians can never rise up to that peculiar mark.

The demographics and social characters of both Bharat (Desh) and India(Country) are way different, hence one can never conclude that the two can ever be one commonwealth or one province. Today we can blame misplaced priorities, poor governance, un-regularized corruption, illiteracy and failure in grooming public health for this discrimination between "India and Bharat" or to be precise "Country and Desh". But most importantly all this happens because the country (India) residents are inherently anti-desh (anti-Bharat) and desh(Bharat) residents are inherently anti-country(anti-India).

Choice is yours now. Decide on to who you are? The options are :

A.) an INDIAN

B.) a BHARTIAN

C.) a DESI

D.) a COUNTRYMEN/COUNTRY-WOMEN.

E.) No-mad

I failed to identify myself today and if I had to choose I would have chosen the no-mad option for myself.

The forum is open for each one of you.Think about it and make your choice. Vote for your choices and I will voice it up.
